Frequently Asked Questions

Sam is a health app for iPhone from SanoLabs, made for people living with a chronic condition and for everyone who wants to live healthier. Sam reads your sleep, heart rate and activity from Apple Health and shows each value next to your own usual range. You also get a diary and doctor report for eight conditions, medication, lab results in the Health Vault and four lifestyle programs. Sam is a wellness app, not a medical device, and it does not diagnose.

Sam reads through Apple HealthKit what your Apple Watch or other wearable saves to Apple Health (more than 20 signals) and shows what changed against your own normal. You also get the AI wellness chat, lifestyle programs built on validated questionnaires (IPAQ, MOS Sleep Scale, K10) and monthly PDF reports that you create yourself.

You need an iPhone and an internet connection. An Apple Watch or another wearable (Oura, Garmin, Whoop) adds values when it saves to Apple Health, but you do not need one. Download Sam from the App Store, grant the HealthKit permissions and you are ready to go. More on devices is in the comparisons.

In the Wellbeing overview you log how your day was (good, a bit off or sick) and see which of your signals moved away from your own normal over the last 24 hours. It rests on your Apple Health signals and a personal baseline of the last three weeks. It is a view of your own data, not a score, and not a replacement for professional medical advice.

Sam offers four lifestyle programs: movement, sleep, stress and workout. Three of them use validated questionnaires (IPAQ for physical activity, MOS Sleep Scale for sleep quality, K10 for psychological distress) to set your starting point; the workout program reads your recovery data. Each has daily goals, streaks and milestone notifications.

In the AI chat you ask questions about your own wellness data, for example how your sleep trended over the past week or how your activity compares to your baseline. It helps you understand your data better. It does not provide medical advice, diagnoses or treatment recommendations.

Once a month you create a PDF report with trends and summaries of your signals. You can share it with your doctor or keep it for your own records. For an appointment about a condition there is the doctor report of your program.

No. Sam is a wellness and lifestyle app. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment. Sam is designed to help you track and understand your daily wellness data and build healthier habits. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concerns.

Sam is free to download and use. It is available on the App Store for iPhone. The details are on the pricing page.

Sam reads only the Apple Health categories you allow, and you can change that permission at any time in the iOS settings. If you have any questions, please reach out to privacy@sanolabs.eu.

Sam reads more than 20 Apple Health signals, including resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep duration and stages, steps and exercise minutes. A value appears only if your device records it and saves it to Apple Health. Which devices work is covered in the comparisons.

Sam keeps together what other apps split up: Apple Health data, symptoms, medication, doctor's letters and lab results. Each of eight conditions has its own diary with its own doctor report, and you see your values next to your own range. Sam works through Apple Health with the device you already have. More in the comparisons. Sam is a wellness app, not a medical device.

No, and it is not designed to. Sam is a wellness companion that helps you stay aware of your well-being between doctor visits. You bring the doctor report to the appointment so the conversation starts from your record. For any medical concerns, always consult a professional.

SanoLabs is headquartered in Germany, and Sam is developed in Europe.
