Doctor's letterJul 18
Blood panel
Vaccination record
In the Health Vault of Sam you file doctor's letters, lab results, discharge summaries, vaccination records and imaging reports, by camera scan, photo or PDF. Sam sorts them by type, lists the values from a blood panel and sums up a letter. You check both before saving. In the waiting room you find what you need, and you can ask Sam Chat what a letter says. The vault is your own copy, not the electronic patient record, and Sam does not interpret any result.
File it once. Find it whenever you need it.
A photo or a PDF
Scan a letter with the camera, pick photos or add a file. Sam files it by type.
Values and a short recap
Sam lists the values from a blood panel and sums up a letter. You check both before saving.
Ask Sam Chat
Ask what a letter says instead of scrolling for it. What a result means stays with your doctor.
Right next to your Doctor's Report.
The Doctor's Report puts your last months on a few pages. The vault holds the letters and lab results that go with them. At the appointment, both are one tap away.

How do I store a doctor's letter digitally?
A document takes a few steps.
- Open the Health Vault and add a document.
- Scan the letter with the camera, pick photos or add a file.
- Sam files it by type, and for a blood panel it lists the values, for a letter it writes a short recap.
- Check both and save.
What Sam does not do
- Sam does not interpret a finding or a lab value. Your doctor reads that.
- The Health Vault is not the electronic patient record and is not connected to it.
- The list of values and the recap come from the document but can contain mistakes. That is why you check both before you save.
- The original stays with your practice. The vault is a copy for you.

Questions about the Health Vault
Can't find your answer?
Can't find what you're looking for? Send us a message and we'll get back to you.
Contact SupportHow long should I keep doctor's letters and test results?
You have no duty to keep them. The practice keeps your record for at least ten years after treatment ends, under section 630f of the German Civil Code. Your own copies are worth keeping while they still explain something, and in the vault they take no shelf space.
Can I store lab results in the app?
Yes. Lab panels, doctor's letters, discharge summaries, vaccination records and scans, sorted by type. Sam stores and sorts them. What a result means is for your doctor to read.
How do I get my papers ready for an appointment?
Filter the vault by type and pull together what belongs to this visit. If you follow a condition program, bring its Doctor's Report too.
Is the Health Vault connected to the ePA?
No. The Health Vault is your own copy for your own use and is not connected to the ePA. Who may see your documents you decide in Care Circle, where documents are a switch of their own.
Can I share documents with my family?
Yes, through Care Circle. You switch on the documents area for one person, they see the documents read-only in their own Sam app, and you can end the share at any time.
Does Sam explain a lab result?
No. Sam lists the values from a blood panel and sums up a letter. Sam Chat repeats what the document says. What a value means is for your doctor to say.
How do I find a document again?
Filter by type, or ask Sam Chat what a letter says instead of hunting for the line. Sam Chat repeats what the document says. What a result means is for your doctor to say.
