It tells you where it stops
Sam Chat will not read a result and tell you what it means for your health. No diagnosis, no judgement on whether a value is good or bad for you, nothing about dosage, timing or whether a treatment is working. When a question needs clinical judgement, Sam says so and sends you to your doctor.
Your data stays in the EU
Processing runs on EU infrastructure under the GDPR. Sam only sees the Apple Health categories you grant and the documents you upload yourself, and you can withdraw either at any time.

Sam Chat reads the Apple Health categories you share and answers questions about them in plain language. It can explain what a metric like HRV measures and show you what your own history recorded for it. It will not tell you what your numbers mean for your health, because software that interprets a person's health values is a regulated medical device.

Every answer comes from your own Apple Health data or your own uploaded documents.
Can Sam Chat interpret my lab results?+
No. It can locate a value in the document you uploaded and quote it back with the date, the provider and the reference range printed on that report. What the result means for you is your doctor's call, and Sam will say so rather than guess.
Does it use wearable data like HRV and SpO2?+
Yes, if you share those categories. HRV, blood oxygen, resting heart rate, sleep, steps and workouts recorded by your Apple Watch all become available to Sam Chat once you grant access in Apple Health.

Sam Chat is included on the free tier with limits; Sam Pro makes Sam Chat unlimited and adds the Medical Document Vault it can search. Processing runs on EU infrastructure under the GDPR, and you can revoke Sam's Apple Health access whenever you want.
