Migraine and panic disorder: log attacks separately

Sam logs migraine and panic attacks in two programs, each with its own diary and its own report for your doctor or therapist.

  • Migraine
  • Panic Disorder

Why the two often occur together

Panic disorder is more common in people with migraine.

  • 1.2 to 9.6x

What you log in each program

Migraine

  • Start, strength and duration of each attack
  • Aura and accompanying symptoms
  • A note, added right away
  • MIDAS questionnaire monthly

Panic Disorder

  • Expected or out of the blue
  • Fear on a scale from 0 to 10
  • 13 body sensations, such as a racing heart
  • What helped, in your own words

In both: your sleep from Apple Health. Whether an episode was a panic attack stays your own call: the program stores what you report.

How it works with migraine and panic disorder

  1. Start with the program that takes up more roomYou confirm for each program that a doctor has diagnosed the condition.
  2. Log attacks the way you experience themPanic in your own words, migraine in fixed fields, the two records kept apart.
  3. Show the matching report to doctor or therapistThe migraine report to neurology or a GP, the panic report to therapy or a doctor's office.

Common questions

Is there an app for migraine and anxiety?+

Sam has a migraine program and a panic disorder program that run side by side. There is no program for anxiety in general. A program starts once you confirm that a doctor has diagnosed the condition.

Are migraine and panic disorder linked?+

Studies describe panic disorder as more common in people with migraine (figures above). That says nothing about cause and nothing about your case. Discuss it with your doctor or therapist.

Can Sam say whether it was migraine or a panic attack?+

No. You log what you experienced in the matching program. Whether it was a panic attack stays your own call. If you are unsure, talk to your doctor.

How do I show the record in therapy?+

The panic program compiles a report for therapy and doctor's offices: the number of attacks, how many came out of the blue and how intense the fear was at its peak, as you entered it. You pick the period.

What should I do if I have acute symptoms?+

If you have acute or serious symptoms, call your local emergency number. For non-urgent concerns, contact your doctor or local out-of-hours service. A diary replaces neither.

Migraine and panic attacks in one place

Start with the program you will talk about at your next appointment.

Sam is a wellness companion, not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and does not replace a doctor. The figures on this page describe how often conditions occur together and say nothing about your case. If you have acute symptoms, call your local emergency number; for non-urgent concerns, contact your doctor.
